Food

Restaurant MOOD has always been one of my favorite restaurants in town. It doesn’t matter if it is a hot summer evening, a rainy day or freezing cold, it is always busy & cosy and the food….. is DE-LI-CI-OUS!

Yesterday I was invited by @pinkconfetti en @eindhovensrondje for a spontaneous dinner with some other ‘Eindhovense Bloggers & Foodies’ at Restaurant MOOD by Eveline Wu.

MOOD is located at the Keizersgracht, in the middle of Eindhoven. The exterior surrounded by the lovely terrace is very inviting. As soon as you enter the restaurant you’ll notice the amazing interior and the beautiful design of the bar. The interior is modern & trendy, but still very cosy. What I also love is the open kitchen, where you can see all the hardworking staff.

The owner of MOOD is the famous entrepreneur & chef Eveline Wu. Eveline grew up at the countryside near Shanghai and when she moved to the Netherlands she started her first wok-restaurant. This was just the beginning.. 20 years later she has four restaurants in Eindhoven and she took over Las Palmas in Rotterdam from Herman den Blijker.

Back in the days Eveline traveled to Miami for her sushi inspiration. You can definitely say that Eveline brought sushi to Eindhoven. Nowadays, Eveline still travels all over the world, but she is also getting a lot of inspiration from Instagram.

The power of Eveline is that she truly cares about her guests. She walks around the tables, makes a talk and listens to the personal wishes of her guests. Moreover, when listening to Eveline, you’ll notice her enthusiasm and passion. She keeps learning and improving, striving for the best. How inspiring!

MOOD has both an Asian and French menu. Yesterday we got to try some different Asian dishes followed by the Famous Sushi-boat. What a treat was this! I enjoyed all the different flavors of the Asian Cuisine.

We had edamame beans, springrolls, gyoza, my all-time-favorite Peking duck pancakes and all the different sushi’s. Together with a nice glass of white wine and good company this was a perfect evening!

I would like to thank @pinkconfetti and @eindhovensrondje for organizing this lovely dinner! And of course Eveline Wu, thank you for your time, the amazing food and inspiring words.

I’ll be back soon to also try the French Cuisine… and to enjoy the HAPPY HOUR Lunch on a Saturday. Who’s with me!?

Enjoy your week lovelies,

BIG X,

LiLa Lo

Hi lovelies!

Hopefully you are all enjoying the beautiful weather!

About two weeks ago I was invited by Horecaartje for a Coffee Tour trough Den Bosch. And it was amazing!!

Horecaartje is an initiative that gives you the opportunity to discover the the greatest horeca hotspots in a town.

Why?

Because we, as people, tend to visit the same places which we already know. With so many new restaurants, bars and coffee bars in town it can be hard to make a choice where to go. And therefore Horecaartje created a ‘cadeaukaart’ with the coolest places in town that you MUST discover. For now Horecaartje focuses on two cities, Eindhoven & Den Bosch.
When you buy such a ‘cadeaukaart’ you can enjoy two drinks per stamp at the different hotspots. For more information please visit their website http://www.horecaartje.nl or have a look at their Instagram @horecaartje

For now Horecaartje is mainly active within the coffee, tea & lunch concepts. However, within the future they are also thinking about a borrel, wine, beer, cocktailcaartje. How awesome is that!!

I thought I knew Den Bosch quite good… I was wrong 😉

Together with other bloggers we gathered at the VVV in Den Bosch where we were kindly welcomed. Beside the fact that we were going to visit 5 Coffee Hotspots in Den Bosch, we also got a little tour along the way.

I thought I knew Den Bosche quite good… well, I was wrong. Den Bosch is a city with a lot of history and beautiful old buildings. When walking trough the city and paying attention to all details I learned a lot I did not know yet due to our very passionate tour guide.

Maestro’s Recordcafé

Our first stop was at Maestro’s Recordcafé. Their goal is to connect people to music and especially the kind of music you don’t know yet. Furthermore, Maestro’s is a café where you can enjoy delicious coffee and other drinks.
It is located in a beautiful old building with an enormous choice in records. Whenever you visit Den Bosch, this café is definitely worth visiting. Especially when you are a music lover, just like me 😉

Oerwoud

Our second stop was at Oerwoud. Oerwoud is a City garden store with a vegan health cafe in the middle of Den Bosch. At Oerwoud they have everything that is green, healthy & sustainable. Their mission is to make the city more green & conscious. What a great initiative is this & from the moment you arrive at Oerwoud, you feel like you are in a different world. The atmosphere is amazing and you will get excited to buy a nice plant or to have an amazing healthy snack or meal.
At Oerwoud we got to try a delicious vegan ice coffee together with a healthy bite. It tasted so good that I will definitely be back soon!

IMG_8245

Drab – Coffee store & Coffee bar

Drab was the third stop and is a coffee store & a coffee bar with very exclusive coffee. They use and sell the one and only Blommers Coffee. And just as Blommers strives for the perfect beans, Drab strives for the perfect cup of coffee. They offer more than ten different coffee beans, so there is always something for you.
Besides the outstanding taste of the coffee, the interior looks amazing. The two owners make you feel comfortable and will make your coffee an experience rather than a just a cup of coffee.

DaSilva Beans & Leafs

After Drab we went to DaSilva Beans & Leafs. The DaSilva Family has an enormous passion for coffee & tea. Therefore, they strive to make the perfect coffee and tea. DaSilva has an experience Centre located in Zaltbommel. In Den Bosch they have an Espressobar & a coffee roasting factory. They are located at the Tramkade, which has a really nice urban touch. Since they are located near the water, it is also a perfect spot for hot summer days.

CoffeeLab Den Bosch

Our final stop was at CoffeeLab Den Bosch. They also have a location in Eindhoven and they are thinking about opening another location in Tilburg and/or Breda.
At CofffeeLab they serve delicious coffee. But there is more than that. They offer other really nice drinks and we were lucky to taste some bites as well. My favorite was the cheese which you have to dip in honey and in ground coffee beans. Sounds weird, but it is absolutely delicious!
At CoffeeLab the guests are their everything and you can feel the hospitality. Moreover, the interior looks fabulous. Wether you are in Eindhoven or Den Bosch, you should definitely go and have a coffee.

Den Bosch… I will be back

This afternoon was a really good one and I would like to thank Horecaartje for inviting me and organizing this great event. At the end we also got a lovely goodie bag with all kinds of goodies from shops within Den Bosch.

I have discovered so many new hotspots that I will be back soon in Den Bosch to visit them all again for a nice coffee or some delicious food!

Enjoy lovelies!

Good Morning Lovelies!

I am writing this blog from Amsterdam, where I finally have some time to start writing again after a very busy, but super nice weekend!

Last Wednesday I got invited by Eindhovens Rondje with some other Food Bloggers from Eindhoven to visit Restaurant So de Jus in Eindhoven, located at the Grote Berg.

So de Jus opened its doors very recently so I went to this restaurant without any expectations. The moment I entered the restaurant I immediately got a nice glass of white wine and I felt very welcoming.

After saying Hi to everyone, Maurice, the owner and chef of So de Jus, took the word and introduced himself and the restaurant. From that moment on, my enthusiasm for this restaurant started and during the evening it got bigger and bigger.

First of all, Maurice started explaining the story behind So de Jus. As a little boy, Maurice visited his grandmother a lot. She was a typical ‘Brabantse’ grandmother, with an enormous love and Passion to always prepare a lovely meal for the family.  It didn’t take long or Maurice started to take over this behavior and especially the Passion.

Maurice didn’t stay in Brabant. He wanted to broaden his horizon, chose for the adventure and travelled the world. He told me about all the trips he had made and what he has learned along his way. For example, when in Australia, he started working in a restaurant, but he never told he was a chef cook. So he started cutting carrots, but soon enough they noticed his talent, and in a moment of time he became the chef of the restaurant.

This is only one example, but Maurice has many more. Just ask him about his past and he will be excited to tell you everything about it.

After 25 years of experience within the restaurant industry, his journey resulted in restaurant SO DE JUS.

This restaurant is a tribute to his grandmother, with a mission from the heart: preparing the most wonderful dishes for the guests, while the guests can enjoy their evening to the fullest and will have a memorable experience.

A memorable experience is exactly what I have had after this evening. Again, Eindhovens Rondje succeeded in bringing people together and learn from each other. This combined with the passionate Maurice & Maureen, the hard working staff and the delicious Food made the evening complete.

Before I completely forget… besides the Passion for his guests you can absolutely taste the Passion & Love the way the food is prepared. WAUW, everything we have tried was so good!!

We started with some bread and homemade pesto & truffel, always a good idea 😉 Afterwards, we got to try some different starters, and I could not stop eating. We had delicious Carpaccio, Vitello Tonnato, Tomato Soup and Smoked Salmon Wonton.

After the starters we went upstairs, where you can also eat as a guest. This atmosphere is amazing. It is very cosy and you can have a look at the kitchen and downstairs as well. There is a beautiful, large, wooden table, which makes this place also very suitable for Business Meetings or other events.

For the main courses we got to try the Biefstuk ‘SO DE JUS’, Biefstuk ‘SO DE JUS’ da’s pittig, Biefstuk ‘SO DE JUS’ knoflook, Biefstuk ‘SO DE JUS’ speciaal, Hamburger ‘SO DE JUS’, Kipsaté, Tonijnsteak and a vegetarian dish.

Seriously… everything tasted SO good!! My personal favorite was the Biefstuk ‘SO DE JUS’ da’s pittig. I won’t tell you exactly how it is made, you should just go there and try it yourself!

Together with all the food we good some very good wines where Maureen, partner of Maurice, could tell us everything about. Maureen is also working in the restaurant sometimes, and she has a very good eye for detail. Moreover, she is just as passionate as Maurice, which makes it a perfect match.

In the end, I would like to say, thank you very much Eindhovens Rondje for organizing this evening and of course BIG thanks to restaurant ‘SO DE JUS’, Maurice & Maureen, you are great!! And I will be back very very soon!

Enjoy your Tuesday,

Lots of Love,

Happy Saturday!!

I’ve got two good reasons why you should visit The Happiness Kitchen today:

  1. It’s Saturday, sooo a good reason to be HAPPY & to get even more happy by having lunch or coffee at The Happiness Kitchen.
  2. The Happiness Kitchen is celebrating their 2 year anniversary, so a you’ll have a good excuse to eat Cake.

Yesterday, I went to The Happiness Kitchen to have Breakfast together with Lotte, a good friend of mine. We were super Lucky, cause we got an Invitation to have breakfast/lunch or a coffee offered by The Happiness Kitchen & Eindhovens Rondje.
Since we are both Breakfast lovers, the choice was not hard 😉

The Happiness Kitchen is more than just a juice bar or eatery. They have a concept where they try to support their customers in eating healthier, feeling better & being happier. They try to do this by serving 100% natural products.
Furthermore, they support locally grown ingredients and try to go organic wherever they can.
Whether you want to sit and relax or take away, the Happiness Kitchen is always there to assist you.

Normally I go to the Happiness Café to have a nice cup of coffee with a pastry. This time we went to their other location, The Happiness Kitchen, located at the Nieuwstraat in Eindhoven.

It was about 09:30 when we arrived, and from the moment we entered the restaurant I felt relaxed and welcome. The Interior looks amazing, and it is the Perfect place to start your day.

Lotte and I both ordered a Breakfast platter together with a nice Cappuccino. The Food looked amazing, and tasted really good!

I will be back soon to try their Lunch & Dinner dishes!

For now I wish you a HAPPY Saturday and of course Happy Birthday to you Happiness Kitchen!

ENJOY!!

Lots of Love,

Hi there!

First of all, HAPPY SATURDAY, it is weekend again and I love it!

Yesterday, I had my first Bloggers Event EVER… and I would like to share my experiences with you!

Last week I got an invitation via Instagram from Eindhovensrondje. They have a lovely Instagram and Website where they post about all the Hotspots in Eindhoven. So whenever you have no clue where to go in Eindhoven, you should definitely visit http://www.eindhovensrondje.nl

Furthermore, they are the specialist in bringing people together and let them connect. This is exactly what happened yesterday evening…

Since this was my first bloggers event EVER, I had literally no clue what to expect.

This event hosted by Eindhovensrondje took place at Berlage Kitchen and Bar, located on the loveliest street in Eindhoven, de Kleine Berg.

Berlage Eindhoven is a very cosy nice restaurant where you can have a drink, (lekker borrelen for the Dutchies), eat and relax. A little while ago they renewed the whole Interior and it looks amazing! It is quite big, but still they made it look really cosy.

The Manager of Berlage told us something about their concept and I really like their idea:   They want to say goodbye to the ‘standard’ way of having dinner like starter, main course, dessert. What they encourage is to order different dishes, share it together, eat what you want, drink what you want, whenever you want basically. When you book a table, it will be your table for the rest of the night. They do not work with shifts, which does happen in many restaurants during the weekend.

I think their concept is really cool and has some big potential for the future. Moreover, they would like to organize more parties on Fridays for example. So you can have some delicious food, drinks and dance on the table (if you would like to).

Back to the Bloggers Event… Eindhovensrondje invited some different Food bloggers who are especially active in Eindhoven. When I got the invitation I already started following the girls on Instagram, but it is really funny to see the ‘real’ face behind an Instagram account.

I almost had the chance to talk with everyone and it was really nice! I did not expect it was so informative, I got some really good tips I didn’t think about yet. We got delicious food and drinks offered by Berlage and in the end the DJ turned up the volume.

The goal of this event was to connect with each other, to exchange ideas and to make each other strong. I think Eindhovensrondje definitely succeeded in this, I loved to be part of this Event and I would say to (hopefully) many more!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend & do not forget to visit Berlage Kitchen and Bar Eindhoven!

Lots of love,

Hi there! Happy Thursday!!

Almost weekend.. so a good reason to celebrate this fact with a nice Gin Tonic.

No idea where to go? You should definitely try Berlin Bar, located at the Kleine Berg in Eindhoven.

” BERLIN IS ODD, PECULIAR, CURIOUS, ECCENTRIC, QUEER AND PROUD TO BE HERE!! ” – by Berlin Bar

They have an insanely large assortment of spirits, specialized in GIN & Tonics. Moreover, they offer some accompanied complimentary bites together with the drinks.

I fell in love with the atmosphere of this place. It is the perfect place to have a drink with some friends or your lover.

On Tuesdays they have a special night called ‘GINsday’, where you can drink GT’s for an affordable price.

Have fun and enjoy the GT’s.. please let me know which one is your favorite.

Hi there!

First of all, happy Thursday to you all.. it’s almost weekend, hang in there!

No plans for the weekend yet? I have found the perfect restaurant to visit.

Yesterday I had lunch at restaurant Victoria in Eindhoven. It is located at the Victoria Park in the middle of the city centre of Eindhoven.

Casual but chique is the perfect description for this restaurant. When you enter Victoria, you will immediately notice the pleasant and very attractive atmosphere.

This place has a wonderful, very well-thought interior where you feel very comfortable.

The main concept of this restaurant is: taste it, share it. They also have a nice terrace, which will definitely be a good one to keep in mind for the sunny days.

I will definitely be back soon to try their menu for dinner!

Enjoy and do not forget to share your experiences!

Good afternoon!

I hope you are all doing great!

This afternoon I went to Restaurant SNCKBR in Eindhoven. I wanted to visit this place for a long time already, and today I finally went together with a friend of mine.

SNCKBR is located in Amsterdam and Eindhoven, and in April they will open a new restaurant in Utrecht.
SNCKBR uses only sustainable ingredients and creates comfort food that is finger licking good, but also moderately in fat and it contains no refined sugars and E-numbers. Furthermore, where possible they also offer gluten free food and food that is low in carbohydrates.

They offer a wide variety of delicious dishes, which makes it very difficult to choose. Furthermore they offer amazing cocktails. It’s the good, the bad and the healthy.

The atmosphere within the restaurant is truly amazing and I loved the interior. Furthermore, when you walk down the stairs there is a bar where you can have drinks in the weekends.

So whenever you are in the mood for breakfast, lunch, dinner or some drinks… SNCKBR Eindhoven has it all.

Enjoy!

Aprazível (o.),; 1 pleasant; 2 Enjoyable place to be
Sabor (m.),; 1 taste; flavor

Last weekend I went to restaurant Aprazível, together with my family to celebrate my dad’s birthday.  I made a reservation a few days in advance and they were already fully booked. However, they also offered the possibility to have dinner at the bar, so we decided to go for that.

The moment you enter Aprazível you feel immediately welcome and warm. The atmosphere is super cosy and the restaurant has good acoustics. The staff is very polite and attentive. Moreover, the owner of the restaurant has some very nice stories about the wines.

And then… the food… it is delicious!! A lot of different options and everything oh so good! Aprazível is absolutely a ‘toppertje’, so visit this place and discover it yourself! I’ll definitely be back soon 😉

“Quality starts with passion. Passion for nature, good food and enjoyment.
Passion for the pure. That is how Yoghurt Barn originated. ” – Yoghurt Barn

Today I have been to Yoghurt Barn Eindhoven. I knew the concept already and I have heard about it from many people. Yoghurt Barn has branches in different cities like Utrecht, Amsterdam, Haarlem, Den Bosch, Den Haag, Nijmegen, Leiden and Rotterdam. Since a few weeks they also opened a location in Eindhoven, so I had to go there!!

Yoghurt Barn Eindhoven is located on the Nieuwstraat, in the middle of the city-centre. The moment you enter the Barn you’ll see the bar with their Barista’s working on making delicious coffee and food.
It is the intention to order your drinks and food at the bar. However, you could also first pick a table, have a look at the menu and then go back to the bar for your order.

I took a Banana Bite together with a cappuccino and a ginger-orange tea. It looked amazing and it was very delicious. Moreover, the staff is very friendly and willing to help. Also, I fell in love with the interior, it is super cosy and a nice hotspot to have a drink or some food with friends.

If you have not visited a Yoghurt Barn yet, I would definitely advice you to visit one. Whether you are in Eindhoven or in another city mentioned above, it is definitely worth it!

Enjoy and let me know about your experiences!

I would love to hear from you!

Hi there!

It’s getting darker & colder these days.. so I decided to make a delicious, homemade Pumpkin-Carrot Soup.

Making soups is something my grandmother used to do a lot. I can still remember almost every time I came to here house, she was making a different soup and you could always taste the love. My mom also loves to make soups and she taught me that it is super easy, healthy and perfect for these cold days.

The following ingredients are necessary for this recipe:

  • 1 sweet onion
  • 1 Spanish red chili pepper
  • A bit of ginger
  • Vadouvan spices by Jonnie Boer
  • Three winter carrots
  • 1 bag of Pumpkin cubes
  • 2 bouillon cubes
  • 1,5 L water
  • Optional: some coriander
  • Optional: A bit of coconut milk

First of all, you heat the pan, you cut the onion, chili pepper and ginger. You fry these ingredients for about 10 minutes together with some Vadouvan spices.

Meanwhile, you peel the carrots and cut them in small slices. When this is finished, you add the carrot and pumpkin cubes to the pan. Then, you pour the 1,5 Liters of water together with 2 bouillon cubes. I used chicken bouillon, but you could also use vegetable bouillon.

Now that you have added all ingredients, it is time to boil the water and let it boil for about 15 minutes, until it is soft enough to puree. Then, you take the pan from the fire and start to puree the soup with a hand blender.

This is it, your super delicious, homemade Pumpkin-Carrot soup is done!

If you would like you could add a little bit of coconut milk and add some coriander on top when serving the soup, but of course this is optional.

Good luck, enjoy and stay warm!
